Between Southeast Asia and Australia, the largest archipelago in the world covers an area of 2,000 kilometers from North to South and more than 5,000 kilometers from East to West. 17,500 islands, more than 6.000 of them uninhabited….but who really knows ? Almost 2 million square kilometers and six seas covering more than 3 million square kilometers of deep blue and colourful reefs.

The Islam in Indonesia

Different races and ethnic groups have coexisted here for centuries.
This is the world’s largest Muslim country, a permissive islamism that lives well with matriarchal cultures and gives an important role to women in social life.
There are also important populations of Christians and Hinduism and animism is still widely practised, blended with all other religions.  It is this kaleidoscope of beliefs, customs and life-styles that make this country a real gem to visit.
